"Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows." - Michael Landon
In a famous Peanuts cartoon, Linus and Charlie Brown are talking. Linus expresses that he thinks to world is much better today than it was five years ago. Charlie Brown explodes, "How can you SAY that? Don't you ever read the papers? Don't you ever listen to the radio? How can you stand there and tell me this is a better world?" To which Linus calmly explains, "I'M in it now!"
"The world is a better place because you were born. Do you believe that? You should. I promise that it is true. In fact, if you were to sit down and think about your life up to this point, I think you would agree. You've made a difference. You haven't been perfect. You probably could have even done better. But, you have touched hearts and lives along the way, and you, my friend, are one of the noble and great ones, ordained from before the foundation of this world, to come at this time, for this purpose – to lead. To be a warrior for peace. To have, be, and do all you can to help those who have lost their way. Do you believe me? Look inside your heart and you will find your own answers. The truth always testifies.
When our children are young, we teach them to make decisions before temptation strikes, so that they are practiced and can stand firm in their response. Do you want to do drugs? No! Do you want to steal? No! Do you want to get wasted and skip school? No! We also teach them to decide early about what they do want. Do you want to graduate from high school? Yes! Do you want to go to college? Yes! Do you want to get married and start a family? Yes! Do you want to get a good job that will support you? Yes! Why is it any different now that we're adults? We need to stop and ask ourselves the questions that will enable us to be all that we are meant to be. Do you know who you are and what you believe?
How do people become heroes? Have you ever thought about that? In his book, "Awaken the Giant Within", Anthony Robbins states, "It is in our moments of decision that our destiny is shaped." How true that is. Did you know that for over twenty years of her life, Mother Teresa taught only the wealthiest children in Calcutta, India? Every day she would walk past the slums, overlooking the squalid conditions outside the well-to-do neighborhood in which she worked. Then, one day she heard a woman crying out for help. The dying woman fell into her arms and forever changed Mother Teresa's life. She didn't leave her. She couldn't help her. She took her to hospital after hospital, but because of the caste system, no one would treat her. Finally, in desperation, Mother Teresa took her to her own home to care for her. The woman died that night, held lovingly in the arms of a woman who had become a hero. It was that night that Mother Teresa decided that this would never happen again to anyone within her reach. From that moment on, she decided that she would devote her life to easing the pain of those who suffered around her and that, whether they lived or died, they would do so with dignity. She would personally do everything in her power to see that they would be treated better than they had ever been treated their entire lives, with the love and respect that all people deserve.
This is the lesson of the element of wind. It is the breath of life that connects us to our Heavenly home
John F. Kennedy said, "Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans, born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today, at home, and around the world. Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty."
The voice of Spirit is carried through the element of wind. Think about that for just a minute. A physical body was created for Adam, but he did not live until God breathed life into him. Again we have scriptural evidence that we are connected to the Divine – that we carry His very breathe within us, and this is what enables us to live; but never forget that the body was created to house the spirit, but breath – or energy – was breathed into the body. This is the energy inside of you that allows you to connect with God, the angels, and with spirit beings who have been called to aid you in your mortal journey. Seek them out.
I believe the words of John F. Kennedy were inspired, but I'd like to take the liberty of sharing with you a message that I believe you need to hear. Imagine standing in the presence of the Father, preparing for your mortal voyage. As any loving Father would do, He places his hand upon your shoulder and in a voice that echoes through the Heavens, He offers this counsel just for you:
Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to (think of your name), saved for this time to be born a hero in the last days; tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of his ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those rights to which spiritual warriors have always been committed, and to which he has committed to today; at home here in the Heavens, and in his new mortal sphere. Let every person know, whether they wish you well or ill, that you shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of the Word." (See John 1:1)
I don't claim to know exactly what words were spoken – but you and I both know that words were spoken; and the beauty is that they continue to be spoken if we will just stop to listen. Sometimes we forget that we are not alone. Just as you would not send your child to another country alone, your Father in Heaven loves you and He would not send you to fulfill your mortal mission without providing adequate protection and resources for you to draw on. You are learning so much in such a short period of time. The people, books, conversations, and experiences are all being provided to ensure that you can meet any obstacle that comes your way. Perhaps the greatest of these has been the knowledge that you are not "subject to" the ills of this world, but have dominion over the whole earth and have been blessed with the power to create your experiences. It is time to remember your noble heritage. Remember the life that was breathed into you. Remember who you are and what you believe in; and know that you are loved.
"The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings!" - Henry Ward Beecher
Assignment: Spend time in quiet reflection. Review your life and give thanks for the lessons you have learned and the person you have become in the process. Identify the heavenly blessings that are in your life today – at this very moment – and with a thankful heart, lift your voice – the breath of your intention in praise to God for His goodness and mercy. With every ounce of your passion and purpose, audibly express the righteous desires of your heart. Ask and ye shall receive. Knock and it shall be opened unto you! Remember; all that the Father hath, shall be given unto you. It is already yours. Claim it.
